McLaren To Launch The Fastest British Road Car Ever

McLaren is coming out with a new P1 that is set to break the record for the fastest road racer to ever come out of Britain. The P1 LM has been designed with the help of Lanzante, a Hampshire based firm which ran the 1995 Le Mans-winning McLaren F1 GTR and they claim that it will be able to go around corners quicker than any other car as 60kg weight was slashed and a huge spoiler was fitted to increase downforce by 40%, and as a result it is expected to be the quickest of all the P1 variants.

The P1 LM's power comes a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine which develops a staggering 986bhp. Official figures haven't been revealed, but the P1 LM will be able to accelerate from 0-100km/h in less than three seconds and should reach a top speed of 354km/h.

The car, which will be limited to just five models, will cost £2.95 million plus taxes, which takes it up to around £3.5 million, making it a very, very expensive street-legal car to acquire.

It will make its debut at this weekend's Goodwood Festival of Speed, with McLaren and Lanzante hoping it will become the fastest road car ever driven up the famous Goodwood Hill.
