Lewis Hamilton Signs New Mercedes Contract
Mercedes Formula one Driver Nico Rosberg has signed a new contract with Mercedes to keep him with the world champions until 2018 alongside his teammate and rival Lewis Hamilton.
Rosberg and the team have been in talks for months but both sides had always said they expected to renew their vows, despite the German’s continuing rivalry with Hamilton.
Toto Wolff, the team boss, was adamant their two collisions in Spain and Austria would not affect Rosberg’s contractual situation, although he had warned at the end of 2015 he may have to split the pair up.
The new deal will see Rosberg stay at Mercedes until the end of 2018, with Hamilton’s contract running to the same date. The 31-year-old employed former driver Gerhard Berger to negotiate the terms on his behalf.
