FRSC Appeals To Motorists To Install Speed Limiters
The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Ile-Ife, Osun State has appealed to motorists to install the speed-limiting device in their vehicles to ensure safety. The Assistant Corps Commander of the commission, Alhassan Abu, made the appeal on Saturday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Ile-Ife where he urged the motorists, especially the commercial drivers, to comply with the directive and install the devices in their own interest and the safety of their passengers.
Abu warned that drivers and owners of vehicles would be severely sanctioned for non-compliance as the commission aims at making the country’s highways free from accident mainly caused by speeding. He noted that most accident on Nigerian roads was caused by reckless driving, alcohol drinking, use of expired tyres, over loading and night journeys, among others.
He therefore urged the commercial motorists to install the speed limiters on or before the October 1 deadline to avoid sanctions.
