Wrong Turn Gets Driver Trapped In Car For Hours

A motorist in Ireland had to be rescued from his car after attempting to drive down a pedestrian-only walkway. The man was stuck in the car overnight after wedging his vehicle into the narrow passage in the picturesque Dunquin, County Kerry on Tuesday evening.

According to reports, he spent more than 12 hours in the car after getting trapped in the vehicle. The motorist, who had blocked pedestrian access to the pier, was eventually freed via the boot of his vehicle when police came to his rescue

Sibéal Ní Lubhaing, of Blasket Island Ferries, told the BBC the driver didn’t try and contact anyone for help despite having a mobile phone.

“We were actually in awe of him, because there are a couple of very sharp turns that you’d think a car could not navigate,” she said.

“There’s also huge signs saying ‘don’t drive’ going down to the pier.”

She added: “The main thing now is that he’s safe. We’re happy he’s OK.”
