FRSC Releases Documents Every Driver Must Have

Most Nigerian drivers would agree with me that nothing can ruin your day on the road than when officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) pull you over to inspect your car documents or much worse when they tell you your car documents are incomplete.

Well, the FRSC have now released 6 documents that every driver must have in his or her car while driving on the road in order to avoid being fined or worse your car being impounded when they pull you over to inspect your car documents.

Here they are;

Driver's license

This is the most important because this document certifies you fit physically, mentally and maybe spiritually, after having undergone driving training/test to drive on Nigerian roads. To get one you have to go the FRSC office or Motor licensing office close to you to apply for one.

Vehicle License

The Vehicle license is a document that certifies that your car has been registered by the Nigeria Government in order to ply the roads and you can obtain this document easily on through the FRSC website.

Certificate of Road Worthiness

This is document that certifies that your vehicle is fit physically and mechanically to ply the Nigerians roads for a stated period of time after it has been registered.

This document is mandatory for all commercial vehicles and its validity is for a period of 6 months. For private vehicles, however, that are older than 5 years, the road-worthiness certificate is to be obtained once a year.

Proof Of Ownership

This document, like the name says, is to certify that the vehicle you are driving is actually registered to you as the owner or to a valid Nigerian citizen.

Learner's Permit

This document is for those who are still in the process of learning how to drive very well. it is usually a prerequisite to obtaining a Driver's License in Nigeria. FRSC maintains that drivers with these permits must have their instructors with them while driving.

Other documents not included by the FRSC but deemed necessary are the CMR and Tint Permit for cars that come with factory fitted window tint or Custom made window tint.

Also remember to have a working fire extinguisher, C-Caution and spare tire in your vehicles as these items are usually inspected by the officials of the FRSC and therefore deemed necessary to have in your vehicle.

With all these documents and items in your car, you should drive with confidence and boldness on Nigerian roads without getting worried or scared when officials of the FRSC pull you over.

Drive safe!!
