Tesla Owner Is Suing Tesla After His Car Accelerates Into His Living Room

Elon Musk once described as the Tesla Model X as “the safest SUV ever made,” but a few people beg to differ. And one of them is Ji Chang Son who filed a lawsuit last Friday against the Electric motor giant after his Model X suddenly accelerated and crashed into his living room while he was pulling into his garage.

Reuters says that suit filed in the U.S. District Court in the Central District of California, “alleges product liability, negligence and breaches of warranty, and seeks unspecified damages,”

It claimed that the vehicle jerked forward at full throttle, “crashing through the interior wall of the garage, destroying several wooden support beams in the wall and a steel sewer pipe, among other things, and coming to rest in Plaintiffs’ living room,” injuring the driver and the passenger.

The lawsuit seeks class action status, meaning as It cites seven other complaints from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s database that make similar allegations against the company.

Back in September, transportation website Electrek reported on several claims of “sudden unintended acceleration” from Model X owners. However Tesla concluded that the driver was at fault after reviewing the logs from each accident. Now Tesla is towing the same line as a statement to Reuters, says that the company had “conducted a thorough investigation” of Son’s claims and the evidence, including data from the car, conclusively shows that the crash was the result of Mr. Son pressing the accelerator pedal all the way to 100 percent.”
